PHASE 1

The journey of Ghausia Masjid began in1964. Three blessed individuals decided to fulfill the communal obligation by building a Masjid. These were:

• Sufi Abdul Ghani ( may Allah have mercy upon him )

• Haji Wilayat Khan – Mohri Sharif(may Allah have mercy upon him)

• Muhammed Aslam – Qureshi(may Allah have mercy upon him)

The Masjid building was only one house initially andas the community grew the need for more room became apparent,therefore, the adjoining house was purchased. Thisbuilding was based on Haward St (near NetherfieldRoad) and during this time, was the only Masjid in the surrounding areas fromKeighley and all the way to Rawtenstall. Due to this being the only Masjid it attracted many Muslimsliving locally. The Imams for this Masjid were:​

1- Hafiz Ghulam Mohammad

2- Qari Fazil Shah

3- Qari Mohammed Dawood Saab

4- Maulana Khaleel ur Rehman

5- Allama Ibraheem Khustar(service continued in to phase 2)

PHASE 2

The Masjid was then relocated to Cross Street (currently Ghausia girls school) due to demolition work on the original building. The building was initially purchased in 1972 which consisted of three houses and after hard work the full block was purchased. The Imams at this point were:

5- Allama Ibraheem Khustar

6 – Qari Razaal Mustafa Jameel (he joinedAllama IbraheemKhustaras joint imam up untilAllama Khust Rehman moved)

7 – Hafiz Muhammed Amin

PHASE 3

As the demand grew even further,the Masjid relocated to its current location on Every Street, Nelson. On7th of January 1991 the doors opened for the 1st purpose-built Masjid in the entire surrounding area. This Masjid’s capacity was for approximately 1100 people, which also had its own dedicated parking. Furthermore, the Masjid is currently being extended even further due to overwhelming demand. After Hafiz Amin there were many Imams who stayed for varying amounts of periods. Below we have mentioned a few (not in order):

• Qari Kareem

• Maulana Mohammed Shafi Hashmi

• Qari Nazir Ahmed

• Qari Anwar

• Qari Nazar Iqbal

• Qari Saifi

• Professor Raza Ul Hassnain

(Whohas been serving for16+ years)

Hafiz Muhammed Anwar (isthe Deputy Imam &has been serving since 1977).
